Yesterday, I was supposed to go to a free screening at Paramount including free food from Food Trucks. Well, they hit capacity. A bit later, I was walking by Arclight and decided to see what films were playing. Before getting inside, I saw a line outside for a preview screening of Elysium! I went inside and told the Sony folks, "Just so you know, if you need seats filled, I am here to help". They said great and within a few minutes, a ticket for the film was fulfilled! Inside, a quick rendezvous with OhGr and Bill Moseley. On to the film.
Set in 2154, this Neill Blomkamp film (District 9 creator) focuses on the inequalities of society with the wealthy living on Elysium, a Utopian space station and the decaying planet Earth. Language, business and music are used to reflect the differences as well as the color of the film. Damon portrays MAX, who needs to get to Elysium. I do not like to give away much so I will say he does a decent job. Jodie Foster is a dark political character and Sharlto Copley, who played Wikus in District 9, returns as Kruger, a bounty hunter.
The sound, music, effects, props and cinematography are excellent. I enjoyed the film for what it is. I recommend seeing on the big screen. It certainly was fantastic for FREE and a surprise I had planned on seeing it. Enjoy!
I have just arrived home from my walk from The Arclight Cinemas, where I saw the midnight screening of 9, the new Tim Burton film. I have been excited to see this film since last year, when I first learned about it. It was also on my list of films I have wanted to see in 2009.
I will want to write something more ultimately, but having just returned, I will say this... It is a great adventure of the two brothers, who are con men & how their final con, before the younger brother, played by Adrien Brody (The Pianist), is played as he is blown away by the woman whom he is supposed to fool, Rachel Weisz.

Legion and I went to Pasadena to rendezvous with Serina at a gas station since we were not quite certain where to dine. After driving in to the station and greeting each other, Serina handed me her phone. The three of us formulated the idea to seek free parking in order to drop off Legion's vehicle.

Actually, I had never before been to the Roscoe's in Pasadena. I used to reside a few blocks from the one on Gower in Hollywood and have attended birthdays, such as Coleman's at the one on Pico & La Brea. This one turned out to be somewhat of a zoo! It was not dissimilar to the lyrics in the song "America" from 
Overall, the staff was good, the food was as tasty as ever! Legion had a chicken sandwhich with fries, Serina had.... a whole mess of foodsies including some chicken "rounds" and cornbread with Ice Tea (not iced... "ice tea"), while I had my chicken thigh, red beans & rice with cornbread combo and Ice Tea as well ;) 
We then drove around Pasadena, hitting South Pasadena and finally we grabbed Legion's car and headed back to my apartment, to watch a film. 
The film could not decide whether it was a silly comedy with an older black American grandmother version of
