Zeitmahl covering Dead Can Dance at Bar Sinister 11/11/2006

Following the last Dead Can Dance post, here is Zeitmahl covering a Dead Can Dance song at Bar Sinister from 2006. Most you will see Michele on Bass, but you also catch glimpses of Vincent Cabagnot on guitar and Ronen Gordon on drums. We played to a ridiculously packed house! I am looking forward to presenting the new version of the multi-media live show this summer! Enjoy! ;)

Dead Can Dance TICKETS acquired!!!

mhhm!
While I wound up telling folks to join the pre-sale the other day, I got so busy, that I never got the moment to get my own tickets..... but I got some today!!! ;)  While the video here is not fantastic, it shows you what Brendan sounds like when he is at his worst, which is still quite fantastic! The last time I saw them perform together was August 2005, with Legion Myers, Agnieszka Stalowska and my mom aka Jane Castagna at the Hollywood Bowl, backed by the LA Orchestra, beneath the stars of a very clear and lovely evening!

Photoshop CS6 - FREE BETA

I have been using Photoshop since 1990 or 91. Most of this was on computers at Kinko's, while designing/ constructing flyers for my band, events or making my zine, Noctropolis, which had a large number of writers. If anyone has any copies, please scan and send!

For me, I have not seen enough changes to upgrade PS in the last several years, however, with the new CS6, I believe the time is nigh!

There's a new graphics engine called Mercury, an advanced, non-destructive crop, new RAW import with amazing flexibility, lens blur, shadow and highlighting and rich cursor support which give you information by your cursor. Auto-saving, auto-correcting and the new layer system are certainly items one can check off the to do list.

Btw, the all new interface has a default dark gray color, however, you can change this as well as the background to revert to the classic look or go even darker. The new default certainly helps focus attention on the image.

Grab it here and give it a whirl!

j.viewz - Salty Air

I've been watching this video for a few months on n off and on again. I am still on the fence whether I really like it the song, however the video brings positive syrupy warm feelings, reminiscent of  late Spring / Summer in the 1980s.

Bjork - Hollow

Drew Berry animates Hollow for Bjork.
Below the video, read what director Drew and Bjork have to say about this.

Drew Berry: The "Hollow" music video is a powers-of-10 exploration of the microscopic and and molecular landscapes inside Björk's body. The animation was constructed from molecular models of DNA and proteins derived from various forms of scientific data such as x-ray crystallography.

My work is usually defined by goals of didactic science education and accuracy, so this is the first time that I've strayed fully into the world of art, with the opportunity to mess around with the scientific data to create a whimsical and playful journey.

Inside a cell nucleus the audience encounters Björk's ancestral spirit — her ghost in the machine — that watches over her genes as they flow from one generation to the next. The spirit manifests as a large molecular complex which was modeled from a three-dimensional head scan of Björk. The inspiration for the face came from the 'fruit face' paintings by the 16th century italian artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo who took objects such as fruits, vegetables, or books, and arranged them in such a way that they formed a portrait.

Bjork: It's just the feeling when you start thinking about your ancestors and DNA that the grounds open below you and you can feel your mother and her mother, and her mother, and her mother, and her mother 30,000 years back. So suddenly you're this kinda tunnel, or trunk of DNA ... All these ghosts come up so it ended up begin a Halloween song and quite gothic in a way ... It's like being part of this everlasting necklace when you're just a bead on a chain and you sort of want to belong and be a part of it and it's just like a miracle.

The dogs are in good spirits, fetching balls. Seth Casteel photographed a dozen different breeds in Los Angeles for an upcoming book titled, Ruff Water.
