Red Light District recap & videos

Friday evening was our Red Light District performance @ Bordello. The event was arranged by The Two Ladies, who are known for their burlesque performance theatre.

I was hoping the place would be somewhat filled and was pleasantly surprised that we were 50 people over capacity and over 100 people turned away! I hope you were NOT one of those folks!

There are some photos posted in the Red Light District myspace photo section and if you have any shots (including video), it would be great to share!

Below are three videos shot by Mister Robert Murphy using the camera Red Seth gave to me.

Judas (encore song)

Stumble

While there are a few small shows in the works, I can tell you that we are in the final stages of mixing the album and am touched that so many people have responded so well to this music. I am pleased and so is the band!

SAD SAD SAD NEWS (George Carlin)

Georgie!

Georg Carlin has died!!!

Not only was he a huge influence on my life and comedy but he paved the way for so many people and even though he was 71, he still had it!
When "It's Bad For Ya" was released this past year, I not only watched it once... or twice but have since been watching it nearly every other week!!!

Carlin had suffered heart issues in the past however he went into the hospital after noticing pains and 5:55 was the time of "departure".

Please check Laugh.com as it is a fun site and I am uncertain as to its immediate future.

For the younger folks or those not in the know, not only was George HIGH-larious, he was also the first ever host on SNL (Saturday Night Live) and he had more than a ten, possibly 12 HBO specials, and has been involved with a SLEW of films.... He has the seven words you can not say on tv, talked about society... anyhow.. I could go on for ever.....

He was in my top (still will be) of all artists, whether it be film, music, visual, etc.

You will sorely be missed and I suppose I will have to think about what you said and the black book from your most recent episode. I feel like a father of sorts has left. I actually took my father and June (the folks) to see Carlin back in the late 90s at the Keswick Theatre, near Glenside, PA (outside of Philadelphia). It was wonderful.

I was seriously having an awful weekend and I honestly think I may cry now.

I will laugh later and watch some George Carlin.....

Links of the week: black cab sessions and more

You may recall a cable series on HBO, Confessions from a NY CAB and then a game show where unsuspecting folks who enter a cab wind up having their chance to win $$$, well, there is now a series that has been featuring a variety of artists performing versions of their music from the back of a cab!

Believe me, it is better than Alannis Morrisette's video and Geggy Tah (remember him?)

My Morning Jacket, The Kooks, Death Cab For Cutie, The Futureheads, Spoon, The Raveonettes, Cold War Kids and even THE Daniel Johnston are some of the folks who have ridden and performed in the cab.

Do dogs REALLY know when their "owners" are coming home?
You may have experienced your fee fee, fido, killer, spike, lucky (insert name) seeming to know ahead of time when their best friend, YOU or someone you know, are coming home. Here is some interesting research and related video.

what a week and it is only wednesday

Well... within the week lots has happened....

working with Josie

running into people all over the place last Thursday (even Katie Holmes)

Power surge at the apt and losing a very important hard drive.. however I will save some loot and have the data recovered.

Last Friday was the first THERAPY SESSIONS L.A. and my new monthly party will be soon announced!

Finally ate at the Griddle last Saturday morning with Jean Spinosa.
Sunday, went to work to watch the back lot burn down (this was at Universal... see other posts) Possibly toxic fumes made me ill for a few days after as well as other employees.

I saw some of the most horribly movies in the last week or so:
Prince Caspian was so painful that I was relieved when we left.
Last Saturday, Yuval and I went to see a private screenign on the backlot of THE STRANGERS and this was a more mainstream version of HOSTEL which was horrible as well. If you had the displeasure of seeing The Strangers then whisperring loudly, "JAMES", will make you laugh!
Indiana Chrones disease and the PissDullSkull was so bad that apart from laughing at the lamely places throwback lines and alien tome foolery, I took a nice long walk during the film to stretch my legs and have a conversation with the woman behind the concession area and eventually decided to buy M&M Peanuts as I needed something to keep me excited. Thankfully we (Angela & Chris, Legion & I) saw this at The Arclight Cinemas in the valley and I sprawled out horizontally for most of the film on three seats.

I bought a new hard drive 500 gigs for $99. Got this at Best Buy as I had them price match the price at FRYS and I also got a killer deal for $45 on a huge battery backup system. The one for barely 1/3 the power and utilities (autosaving files into folders, etc) was actually close to double what I paid!!! :)

Btw, I just completed the final edits on the remix for WEST INDIAN GIRL. You may wind up hearing this a good deal if you r

Today Erik Weise picked me up at my house in Granada Hills and we caught the 5:30 screening of THE FALL. While absolutely stunning from location to overall cinematography.. the film was a cure for insomnia and I am still not sure what I saw other than some pretty pictures and a few halfway decently development scenes.

Tonight, I am headed back to Hollywood.... oh btw, I hung out with my old pal from Philadelphia, Toni Ann.... last evening!!! It was the first time we saw each other in 8 years and we live near each other now!

Tomorrow, I am leaving the Hollywood apt at 7:30 am to appear in court as I am a key witness to a burglar, tom whom i refer as the Leland Fire Escape Burglario.
HE IS GOING DOWN!!!!!!

I am looking forward to the following:
Red Light District shows
My new monthly party
Sunday at the Selma Farmer's Market in Hollywood on Selma btwn Cahuenga and Vine
Windows 7 (due this October.... a big FU to VISTA which I gladly never had)
The new HTC Phone!

my work is on FIRE - Universal Studios backlot engulfed

CNN Link: http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/06/01/studio.fire/index.html

Watch the live video here: http://www.cnn.com/video/live/live.html?stream=stream2

This started at 4:45 am and over 100 Firefighters are on the case.
Btw, my disliking the private screening of The Strangers last night on the backlot has no relation to the fire.

I may not have to work today.....
Hopefully no one gets hurt and I hope The Phantom Of The Opera soundstage survives.
