David Byrne - Psycho Killer - Sessions at West 54th Street

David Byrne has inspired so many people and the general population may only know a light version of this via his work with Talking Heads, however, if you look here, you may see a further glimpse of his various directions which surely inspired Thom Yorke, Trent Reznor, Meat Beat Manifesto, David Bowie... etc.

The music performance begins at 1 minute 30 seconds, following the interview with Chris Douridas (KCRW)

Meat Beat Manifesto - "Waterphone" & live in LA

If you know me well, you understand my connection to the music by Jack Dangers aka Meat Beat Manifesto. Since the later 80s, I have been an avid fan and have been very fortunate to have hung with this visionary on occasion. His influence on not just my own music but pop culture has been massive yet he has remained under the wire for his career. There would also be no Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, drum n bass, dubstep and beyond.

Meat Beat Manifesto perform their audio visual spectacle tomorrow evening at El Rey in Los Angeles.

Agnes Obel - Riverside (official)

Play It Again Sam has brought lots of amazing artists to the ears of millions of fulfilled listeners!!! Whether the last decade of fans of Metric or past years ears sounds of The Young Gods, Meat Beat Manifesto, Legendary Pink Dots and even recent bands that harness the classic flavors such as Editors and The Mirrors.

Agnes Obel's music has a fresh take of peaceful melodies and gentle piano with her voice. This reminds me of Cat Power but also of other artists I enjoy and I hope you will too!

Receive your free download of Agnes Obel's version of John Cale's Close Watch here: http://playit.pias.com/agnesobel/philharmonics

Black and white super-8 music video from Agnes Obel for the single 'Riverside'. With its gloomy and scenic imagery, the video melts the strange together with the realistic. The video was shot in the summer of 2010 in the woods of Berlin and is directed and filmed by Alex BrĂ¼el Flagstad.

Boom Boom Satellites landing in Hollywood at The Troubadour!!!!!

For over 12 years, I have been a huge supporter of Boom Boom Satellites! Jack Dangers (Meat Beat Manifesto) was the first to recommend the music to me while we were traveling with Perry Farrell's Enit Festival. The Japanese fellows combine huge bashing beats with dirty bass guitars, cutting guitars meshed with synths that Trent Reznor and any NIN fans desire, fusing vocal intensities reminiscent of Filter's early work.

I am absolutely excited to see the live band perform next Monday, the 25th, at The Troubadour! After 7 albums, there are so many amazing songs they can perform!

Hard to believe it, but a major label, Sony, is who releases their music.
Sounds like: NIN, Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Meat Beat Manifesto, Consolidated, Garbage, Miles Davis, Evil Nine, Future Sound Of London, Filter, Zeitmahl

VOTD: Meat Beat Manifesto - "Waterphone" New Song

Since 1988, I have been a fan! When God OD dropped and Storm The Studio, I was HYPNOTIZED!!!! Never play this music when driving a car... I learned via multiple speeding tickets. Once I got this simple fact, I never again had a ticket!

Meat Beat Manifesto not only spawned a generation of funkdustrial heads, but incited drum n bass as well as spawning dubstep. Enjoy!

VOTD: Bomb The Bass - Butterfingers & Burn The Bunker

Today was a day of communication breakdown or emails being lost or something to that effect. I suppose my time was not wasted as I was able to complete other goals in the interim.

I had a good time seeing Tricky perform last evening in Anaheim... more on that later with photos... For now, the Video(s) Of The Day

Bomb The Bass is a collective organized by the talented, Tim Simenon, who has had a bunch of moderate hits since 1987. He has collaborated with Meat Beat Manifesto, David Bowie, Bjork, Seal, Massive Attack, Justin Warfield (when Justin did hip hop, before his She Wants Revenge business) Gavin Friday (The Virgin Prunes aka U2's influence). He also stepped in to replace Alan Wilder, and produced ULTRA (1997) for DEPECHE MODE, which brought the tunes "Barrel of a Gun", "It's No Good", and "Home" to fruition. He is also known for pulling in members of Tackhead into the mix. Tackhead, not only are the musicians behind the Sugar Hill Records music which was the original HIP HOP music including "RAPPER'S DELIGHT", but also the same people who created and produced the first NIN album, Pretty Hate Machine.
