U2 covered by Patti Smith, NIN, Depeche Mode, Gavin Friday, Garbage...

I enjoyed the first few U2 albums and enjoyed them in concert since the late 80s and
am certainly looking forward to hearing "AHK-toong BAY-bi Covered", the covers album included with the December issue of Q magazine, available October 26th.

Which artist interpretations are you most curious to hear?
I am eager to hear Gavin Friday (Virgin Prunes) as it is no secret that U2 was highly influenced by Virgin Prunes. Hearing Depeche Mode and Patti Smith and even Trent Reznor will be interesting too.

Nine Inch Nails - Zoo Station
U2 - Even Better Than the Real Thing (Jacques Lu Cont Mix)
Damien Rice - One
Patti Smith - Until The End Of The World
Garbage - Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
Depeche Mode - So Cruel
Snow Patrol - Mysterious Ways
The Fray - Trying To Throw Your Arms Around The World
Gavin Friday - The Fly
The Killers - Ultraviolet (Light My Way)
Glasvegas - Acrobat
Jack White - Love Is Blindness

Achtung Baby
- 7th studio album
- Produced by Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno
- Released on 19 November 1991 on Island Records
- Over 18 million copies sold worldwide

Scott Weiland tries to cover "But Not Tonight" by Depeche Mode

HORRID!!! This has to be one of the worst renditions of a Depeche Mode song I have heard. OUCH!!! This is similar to me opening an old jar of something from the fridge and asking you to smell it after I just said "disgusting", but you have to hear this mess. From Stone Temple Pilots to Bottom of the barrel, Scott Weiland.

Enjoy Groove Armada's Silence

Depeche Mode covered & stripped down by Groove Armada...

Today, during a session, I was making my cat dance while I quickly sang, "I see you kitty kats, shakin' dat ass, shakin dat ass" which was my short rendition of the Groove Armada tune. Since it is nearly sleep time... (supposedly) I am sharing this mellow cover of Enjoy The Silence by Groove Armada.

You can download the mp3 on http://www.covermesongs.com/2010/10/watch-groove-armada-enjoy-the-silence.html

VOTD: Alan Wilder joins Martin Gore in Depeche Mode!!!

It is no secret that I have an affinity for the music of Martin Gore, particularly his Depeche Mode songs that were orchestrated by the handy work or Alan Wilder.

It was nearly two decades ago when they last worked together on "Songs of Faith & Devotion. Alan left the band after their extensive two year world tour. It was a sad surprise for any fan of the band and his role in the Depeche Mode music machine would be noticed in the subsequent album releases.

Last week, Alan joined Martin on stage for the first time since at their performance at the Royal Albert Hall for the Teenage Cancer Trust charity series, which brings amazing bands to perform each year, raising money and awareness regarding children and young adults with cancer. This year performers include Them Crooked Vultures, The Specials, Noel Fielding, The Who, The Horrors & Suede.

Here is Alan Wilder & Martin Gore performing their soundcheck of "Somebody" together!

Below is a short overview of the show with succinct dialogue from both Martin & Alan.

Here is video from the performance!!!!

Bonus video: "One Caress" with strings!

via SlicingEyeBalls blog, which has a slew of footage from this performance posted

Have a great day and enjoy LOST this evening!

Nitzer Ebb making new waves

Douglas McCarthy & Bon Harris have had more than 25 years experience of bringing the sonic assault to the dance floors of the world as Nitzer Ebb. They started as teens and as time progressed, the music matured.

To promote their forthcoming album, the boys will open for Depeche Mode's live tour during January & February!

Nitzer Ebb have their own show at The Key Club, here in Hollywood, on the 17th of November. You may just know someone else on the bill for that evening ;)

You can hear Douglas's voice on Kloq's single for Physical and
my project with TechnicalItch on http://www.myspace.com/techitchshok

Link Of The Day: Pistol-Camera

This link arrives from the pathway of Sarah Lane.

The next time you hear a film maker announce they will begin shooting in fifteen minutes it might look like some heat is about to occur!

Speaking of a Barrel of a Gun... There is a killer up front and center Terrace Seat available for Depeche Mode at The Hollywood Bowl, this Sunday, the 16th and being sold for FACE VALUE. Drop me a line for details!
